Project Overview

Carried out by Learnovate for WorkJuggle, this research project examines how Gen Z learns, as the first generation to grow up fully immersed in digital technology, and what that means for workplace Learning and Development (L&D). With Gen Z expected to make up over a quarter of the workforce, organisations are under pressure to rethink training models designed for previous generations. The project combined three strands of research: a review of the literature, a survey of Gen Z employees in Ireland and the UK, and interviews with experienced L&D professionals delivering training to
Gen Z cohorts. The research covered topics such as:

  • Characteristics of Gen Z
  • Gen Z Learning Habits
  • Learning in the Age of TikTok
  • Barriers to Engagement
  • The Employer’s Perspective
  • Feedback and Mentoring

The project concludes with practical recommendations for a Gen Z learning strategy: outlining approaches can improve the effectiveness of training not just for Gen Z but for all employees.
