With a background in Pedagogical Sciences (KU Leuven) specializing in orthopedagogy, orthodidactics, and behavioral disorders, Annelies Volckaert has built a career at the intersection of education, pedagogy, and innovation. Starting as a university research assistant at Leiden University, the Netherlands, focusing on learning disabilities and the use of technology in this field, she went on to hold leadership roles in special education and mainstream secondary education, back in Belgium.

From 2013, she transitioned into higher education as Training Coordinator for Social Work at Howest University of Applied Sciences, before moving into the EdTech sector. At Signpost she served as Product Manager of Academic Software and later as Business Development Manager, contributing to different digital learning solutions. Since 2022, when <edtech/station>, the Belgian hub for educational technology companies, was founded, she has been active in innovation and research where she focuses on fostering projects and partnerships at the crossroads of EdTech companies and research institutions, including testbeds.
