This is an opportunity to join an exciting research team, based in the Learnovate Centre in Dublin’s “silicon dock”.  We have recently secured significant funding for a project to bring innovative Adaptive Learning algorithms for young children to the next level.  The goal is to help build world leading edtech apps and web services via a SaaS platform based around the core algorithms.

We are looking for two key hires to support the project: Technical Lead; and, Speech Scientist.

Role 1: Technical Lead

We are looking for a technical lead who is interested in getting in on the ground floor and having real input into all aspects of this new platform and the planned spin-out startup. They will get the opportunity to define all aspects of the technology stack and be able to give direction to more junior engineers. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic self starter, with a demonstrated passion for technology and an interest in educational technology. This is an opportunity for a candidate who shares the other founders’ passion to build the next big edtech startup.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary for the duration of the contract (12 months) with an opportunity to join the spin-out edtech startup company in a key position.

Interested? You’ll need:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar
  • 5+ years of software design, development and debugging skills, using a diverse set of programming languages, frameworks, and systems
  • Full stack web development, with one or more technology stacks.
  • Experience build applications that integrate with third-party APIs
  • Front end dev skills (HTML, JavaScript / jQuery, CSS (Less/SASS)).
  • Using and managing a version control system (git or SVN at a push)
  • Test lead development and continuous deployment
  • Working knowledge developing cross platform/browser compatible dynamic web, video and mobile web applications (HTML5)
  • App development technologies Native or Phonegap.
  • Experience with Agile product development environment.
  • Experience working with machine learning systems and technologies is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively

Role 2: Speech Scientist/Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Speech Scientist passionate about speech recognition, digital signal processing, machine learning and/or natural language processing, who is interested in getting in on the ground floor and having real input into the speech technology and machine learning aspects of this new platform and the planned spin-out startup company. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic self starter, with a demonstrated passion for technology and an interest in educational technology. This is an opportunity for a candidate who shares the other founders passion to build the next big edtech startup.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary for the duration of the contract (12 months) with an opportunity to join the spin out edtech startup company in a key position.

Interested? You’ll need:

  • Graduate degree (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, Computational Linguistics, or Mathematics with specialisation in speech recognition, natural language processing, or machine learning.
  • Familiar with programming languages such as C/C++, Java, Perl or Python.
  • Experience in building automatic speech recognition, speaker identification, audio signal processing, machine learning, or natural language processing systems
  • Familiar with state of the art speech and machine learning techniques
  • Strong analytical skills (problem solving, debugging others/own code, etc.).
  • Understanding and application of design, algorithms, data structures, data modeling & optimization.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively
