Candidates are invited to apply for the position of Corporate Learning and Development researcher in the Learnovate Centre, based in Dublin. As an applied research centre, the focus of this role will be on Learning and Development research applied to Industry. This is a highly collaborative role, working in a multi-disciplinary team in a dynamic environment. Projects range across sectors and types including researching next-generation learning technologies and approaches, as well as funded projects working directly with industry. This role is best suited to candidates who are passionate, curious, and questioning about ongoing current best practice in Learning and Development and innovations in this field.

Standard Duties and Responsibilities of the Post

  • Reporting to the Principal Investigator, you will research and inform the learning components of customer-focused research projects
  • Strategies for digital transformation and online learning best practice as members move from face-to-face delivery to online
  • Design evidence-based learning models, best practice for online learning strategies, use cases etc, and support implementation of project outputs
  • Collaborate with industry partners to provide learning theory expertise and recommendations based on learning need
  • Research and produce ‘Start of the Market’ and ‘State of the Art’ reports for industry members and clients
  • Support the PI and research group in the design, development and implementation of the research programme
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders including academic and industry partners/collaborators as appropriate
  • Engage in the dissemination of relevant results
  • Conduct evaluations/trials to support research projects/develop surveys
  • Prepare and write articles, blogs, whitepapers to support the work of the Learnovate Centre
  • Attend and speak at relevant conferences and events
  • Participate in Learnovate Centre activities, such as industry showcases and annual reviews

Person Specification

Qualifications:

Candidates appointed to this post should have a relevant Ph.D. in the area of Education

or

Equivalent experience with a Masters Level Qualification in a relevant field e.g Online Learning / Digital Education, Psychology, Learning and Development

Knowledge & Experience

(Essential)

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in adult learning/learning and development projects
  • A deep understanding of the learning theories associated with learning and development and experience of applying best practices
  • An ability to evaluate (the latest) technology available in the market and consider its usage in innovative and effective learning solutions
  • Deep knowledge and experience of training methods, instructional design tools and techniques
  • Track record of successful scoping, evaluation and delivery of learning technology solutions
  • Knowledge of learning technology including Learning Management Systems, online learning platforms, etc.
  • Demonstrable experience in working successfully in multidisciplinary teams

Desirable:

  • Experience of conducting end user trials/ learning evaluations/learner feedback approaches
  • Experience in informal, social, mobile learning
  • Experience in designing technology-enhanced learning environments
  • Experience working in a research driven environment
  • A knowledge of the research in one or more of the following areas: game-based learning, learning technology integration, assessment approaches, personalised learning, competency assessments/frameworks, transversal/21st century skills
  • Experience in facilitating workshops
  • Experience working with qualitative and quantitative data
