The Purpose of the Role

Candidates are invited to apply for the position of Project Manager in the Learnovate Centre. The Learnovate Centre is an industry-led research centre in the future of work and learning funded by Enterprise Ireland and hosted by Trinity College Dublin.

Our multi-disciplinary team works with our industry and academic partners to support and enable organisations to unlock the transformative power of learning using applied research, innovative practices and cutting-edge technology.

The ideal candidate will have excellent facilitation, communication, and coordination skills. A team player and self-motivated, they will demonstrate a strong team ethos and an ability to support project teams deliver quality and impactful outputs. Reports to the Programme Manager.

Context

This role is part of a small team of project managers providing support to the research team across a programme of research projects ranging from small once-off research projects, to large European projects with multiple stakeholders and institutions.

They will have responsibility for reporting on project finances, resourcing and completing required funder reports. Additionally, they will support the development of Learnovate processes for continued improvement on service delivery. Strong communication and collaboration skills are a must for the post.

Main Responsibilities

Standard duties and Responsibilities of the Post

Using standard Project Management processes to manage the lifecycle of specific projects in The Learnovate Centre, including:

  • Working with a multi-disciplinary research team to execute research projects across a range of budget levels and funding mechanisms.
  • Creating and managing schedules, resources and budget.
  • Working with the Programme Manager to prioritise and maximise resource and time usage across multiple projects.
  • Creation and maintenance of project documentation and processes in line with best practice.
  • Communicating project progress, information and outputs; reporting.
  • Liaising with TCD supports for contracting, invoice tracking, redemption of vouchers, etc.
  • Working with external clients: scheduling workshops & meetings.
  • updating on project progress, contracting, invoicing, etc.
  • Identify, assesses and aid the team in addressing issues/obstacles.

Person Requirements

Qualifications (Essential)

  • Recognised qualification in Project Management
  • Level 8 degree

Knowledge & Experience

  • 5 years’ experience managing projects involving digital technology in a fast paced, dynamic environment (essential)
  • Minimum 2 years’ project management experience in a research environment (essential)
  • Financial management experience (essential)
  • Experience in using standard project coordination tools including commercial offerings (essential)
  • Experience in working consultatively with internal and external customers (essential)
  • Experience working with Innovation methodologies/tools
  • Experience in a university-based research environment
  • Experience project managing EU-funded projects

Skills and Competencies (Essential)
