Dr. Ciarán Dunne is the first Transversal Skills Director for Dublin City University (DCU), a unique role in higher education both nationally and internationally, focused on designing strategies that develop, apply, assess and evidence students’ key transversal skills in a rigorous, robust and innovative manner. He is also a member of Ireland’s National Skills Council, advising the government on the country’s skills policy.
Prior to taking on this role and following on from his experience working in both the public and private sector, Ciarán was Associate Professor in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in DCU, lecturing across multiple disciplines, including Sociology, Social Entrepreneurship, Creative Thinking, Futures Literacy, Intercultural Studies, and Spanish Language. He is passionate about creativity, and his ‘Talking Creativity’ podcast explores how this innate human capacity can be cultivated both individually and collectively.
