Prof. Mairéad Pratschke
Professor and Chair in Digital Education at the University of Manchester. Research Fellow and Advisory Board member at the USA’s National AI Institute for Adult Learning and Online Education (AI-ALOE)
Mairéad Pratschke has been working at the forefront of digital innovation in education for 25 years, in higher education, education technology, professional education, lifelong learning and edtech start-ups.
Irish-born, she has worked in Canada, the USA, the UK, Belgium and Spain, in multiple languages and sectors, as a lecturer, designer, director and consultant for digital programmes in the arts, humanities, social sciences, sports and business.
She joined the University of Manchester in 2022 as Chair in Digital Education in the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures, where she is currently focused on emerging AI pedagogy and practice. She led the Faculty of Humanities working group on AI and Assessment and sits on University’s central AI Strategy committee. Her book, Generative AI and Education, is forthcoming in September 2024.
